In Paris, the Musée d’Orsay (1 rue de la Legion d’Honneur; phone +33 [0] 1 40 49 48 14, www.musee-orsay.fr/en/visit/access) is a beauty, the most exhilarating art museum I have ever seen.

The main floor contains stunning Beaux-Arts architecture designed around a long stretch of half-domed glass, once part of a train station that was built in 1900. As you enter the main door, you’re enveloped in brilliant, natural light.

My daughter Linda and I took time...

My wife, Jacquey, and I traveled to France for our first river cruise with Viking River Cruises. On our 8-day cruise, “Portraits of Southern France,” the Hermod was scheduled to sail May 3-10, 2015. We had also signed up for Viking’s 3-day Paris package that preceded the cruise.

When we checked in to our hotel in Paris, we were told that instead of being transferred to Chalon-sur-Saône, the original point of embarkation for our cruise, we would be bused to Lyon to embark the Hermod on...

I was at the Frankfurt Airport in Germany on June 17, 2015, and needed euros.

Ordinarily, I use a Charles Schwab debit card at foreign ATMs, since Schwab reimburses ATM fees charged at any bank, but when I saw a Deutsche Bank ATM, I decided to withdraw €200 from it with my backup Bank of America (BofA) debit card, since Deutsche Bank is part of BofA’s Global ATM Alliance (which means no ATM fees charged to cardholders using ATMs of those banks).

After I returned home, my...

In all my years of travel, few tour group companies have lived up to their motto more than Overseas Adventure Travel (Cambridge, MA; 800/955-1925, www.oattravel.com), with its promise of opportunities for learning and discovery.

The “Crossroads of the Adriatic” trip that my wife, Fyllis, and I took to Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia, Oct. 27-Nov. 11, 2014 (priced from $2,995, land only, or $4,195 with round-trip air, New York/Dubrovnik), lived up to that goal and then some....

For my trip to Sweden, I wanted to visit more than Stockholm. Being handicapped by a lack of tech savvy, let alone a computer and Internet access, I needed some help.

In 2014, after having seen it advertised in ITN’s Mart classifieds, I took a group tour of the Baltic countries with Scott Jercich’s Vertical Horizons Travel (Folsom, CA; 888/995-1016, www.verticalhorizonstravel.com). I was still receiving Scott’s newsletter and noticed that he could assist, so I called him. Soon we had...

A few years ago, the Royal Oak Foundation, the American partner of the British National Trust, began offering tours of the UK through Just Go Holidays, now known as Albion Journeys (Festival House, Jessop Ave., Cheltenham, Glos., GL50 3SH, U.K.; in the US, 866/834-8358, www.albionjourneys.com/royaloak).

Having taken two of these tours, my friend and housemate, Mary Campbell, and I highly recommend them as pleasant ways to see properties otherwise inaccessible to those of us who...

It was at the midpoint of our “Exploring Scotland & Ireland” tour when we got to visit the Titanic Experience Museum (1 Olympic Way, Queen’s Rd., Titanic Quarter, Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT3 9EP, U.K.; phone +353 21 481 4412, www.titanicbelfast.com).

Traveling with Collette (Pawtucket, RI; 888/292-3150, www.gocollette.com), Aug. 5-16, 2015, we had experienced the chilly, windswept Scottish Highlands, attended the Military Tattoo in Edinburgh and enjoyed a smooth crossing on the...

We were very grateful for the recognition our ecology-tours park received with the reader’s letter “Aerial tram, Costa Rica” (Sept. ’15, pg. 14), and we have the following comments to add.

Rainforest Adventures Costa Rica Atlantic (866/759-8726, www.rainforestadventure.com) is not located in Guapiles. Guapiles is the city closest to the park but is about 20 to 25 minutes away.

Located on Route 32, 28½ miles northeast of San José, the park is a private reserve that borders...
