As to which was the world’s first revolving restaurant (Dec. ’08, pg. 63), several readers noted that the Seattle Space Needle opened at the World’s Fair in 1962.
Don Wright of Newberg, Oregon, pointed out that the Ala Moana in Waikiki, Hawaii, opened first, in 1961, though it closed after three or four years and was much smaller than the Space Needle’s SkyCity restaurant, which remains open. The same architect, John Graham, designed both.
