The first, a two-hour tour, covers the recently revitalized inner harbor area. The second is a three-hour tour of new architecture in the city.

In a 4-year remembrance project mirroring notable dates of World War I, which lasted from July 28, 1914, until Nov. 11, 1918, events timed to the 100-year anniversaries of various events are being planned in the Flanders region of northern Belgium. More than 60 of Berlin’s museums and galleries stay open from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on the Long Night of the Museums, which takes place on the last Saturday each January and August.

One ticket gives unlimited access to all venues and use of a special shuttle. €15 (near $20) adult, €10 senior, child under 12 free. Tickets at Berlin Infostores, S-Bahn/BVG ticket machines and in front of city hall (by the shuttles) or at www.museumsportal-berlin.de.

Belfast Castle (Antrim Road, Belfast, BT15 5GR, Northern Ireland; phone +44 0 28 9077 6925, fax 28 9037 0228), completed in 1760 on 400-foot-high Cave Hill, offers panoramic views of the city. Admission is free to the grounds, the restaurant and the visitors’ center, with four rooms of exhibits on the castle’s history and open 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 9-6 Sunday.
