Monsoon rains in the westernmost Indian state of Gujarat in June killed at least 80 people and forced more than 10,000 from their homes, including more than 1,000 who had to be airlifted to safety. The floodwaters washed away houses, roads, crops and cattle.
By some reports, this was the worst flooding in Gujarat in 90 years, with more than 600 villages affected. Flood warnings also were issued in the state of Kashmir.
