France and Monte Carlo with Grand Circle Travel

For our 41st international junket (Aug. 30-Sept. 18, ’02), we traveled to Nice, France, with a side visit to Monte Carlo, Monaco. Our 19-day trip, with Grand Circle Travel (347 Congress St., Boston, MA 02210; phone 800/221-2610), continued with a Rhône River cruise on the 60-cabin MS Ravel (pictured above in Lyon).

We boarded in Arles and made stops in Avignon, medieval Tournon and 2,000-year-old Roman Lyon, then disembarked in Chalon-sur-Saône. The boat crew and various local guides spoke English expertly and they always were patient and courteous, answering questions knowledgeably. Grand Circle continues to fulfill our expectations.
