Visited Normandy last summer. Stayed at Churchill hotel in Bayeux. Very nice place and would highly recommend. Used Overlord tour company for tours of area. First day took the Omaha/Utah tour to see areas where Americans landed. Also visited the cemetery! Very sobering. To stand on Omaha and Utah beach is a very emotional experience. On second tour took the Band of Brothers tour to see areas depicted in the TV series of same name. If you have seen the mini-series, well worth the time. Guide was a retired French soldier. On second day, our group wanted to visit the British and German cemeteries also, which were not part of regular tour but on the way we were going. We all agreed this would cut short some visits elsewhere, but we all agreed. Most interesting to see how different they were, compared to US cemetery. Nice van. Excellent guide. Was picked up very near hotel right on time. Is an area all Americans should visit, if they can.
