Take a look at JOURNEYS International trips to Turkey. They have five different set trips but will also customize anything for you. You can travel in a very small group or book something private with no other travelers. A family owned company for 35 years speaks to the personal service you get both here and abroad.

A few years ago I visited eastern Turkey on a 2-week tour with Pacha Tours. It started in Trabzon and ended in Istanbul. Pacha also offers customized, private tours. http://www.pachatours.com Because of political troubles along the Syrian border, some tour operators have suspended or revised their trips to eastern Turkey, so I'm not sure if Pacha still arranges tours to the east. Both my trips to Turkey were with Pacha and the hotels, guides and service were good.
My husband Johnn and I (Gail) used a guide named Mehmet Ozbalci turfantastik@tnn.net for our Turkey tour. We were quite happy with him. We did not go to eastern Turkey with him but I know he does that area. We planned our trip with him via email and phone (I can't remember if we skyped).
