<p>Going to Athens in December. Anyone have a favorite hotel they'd like to share with me? We'd like one downtown, with a view of the Acropolis (who doesn't???!!!)

Anyone have a favorite hotel in Athens, Greece?

We like the Hotel Adrian in La Plaka. It's small and quite simple, but they have a non-smoking floor and prices are reasonable. Location can't be beat. We walked to many sites from here and there's a little tourist "train" that starts it's run just a block away. Breakfast is served on the roof-top terrace with full view of the Acropolis.
I would recommend the Hotel Plaka in Athens. Centrally located in the Plaka area. There is a bar/lounge on the roof with great views of Athens. This is considered a Budget hotel. I've also stayed in the Hermes.
Both are walking distance from Syntagma Square (where you can take the metro to and from the airport.
We liked the Electra Palace Hotel, right at the edge of the Plaka. Rooms with Acropolis view available, and a small rooftop pool with wonderful Acropolis view. Reasonably pricey but we thought it was a good value.
We also liked the Royal Olympic but it's not as conveniently located--farther from the Plaka, opposite the ruins of the Temple of Zeus which are spectacular. Even more pricey, as I recall.
