Any suggestions? Thanks alot! Gemini10 <div>&nbsp;</div> </div> </div> </div> </div>

Try AirAsia for flights from Bangkok's Don Muang airport to Yangon.

If you haven't already done so, my suggestion is to try some of the familiar websites such as Kayak, Orbitz, Priceline, Cheap Tickets, etc.  If you don't want to buy from them, they will at least identify the flights that exist and you then can go to the websites of the airlines that operate those flights.

Thai Air, Bangkok Airways and Air Asia fly Bangkok to Yangon.    Air Asia is half the price and a good  choice for the 1 hour flight.  Keep these things in mind:

1. there is just one class of service

2. you will fly from Duang Muang (DMK) airport, which is much smaller than Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK). When you arrive at luggage -drop, there is just one line for all their flights, but it goes fast as everyone has already checked in on the web and have boarding passes.

3. Everything can be done on the web and you will pay extra for checked luggage (be sure to overestimate the weight, as if you pre-pay, it is inexpensive; if you pay at the airpot, it is international rates), check-in,etc.  I think the first 10kg is free, but you pay for anything over that

4. you can pre-book a seat (even bulkhead and exit rows) for an extra charge

5. you can order and prepay for a snack/sandwich/drink

6. you won't receive any frequent-flyer mileage, and they aren't partners with anyone.

Even with all the extra fees, it was still a decent price.  I used Air Asia and was pleased with them and would use them again.

We have used AirAsia several times to fly around South East Asia.  One must become familiar with how discount airlines work these days: Easyjet et al in Europe, Spirit in the States, etc.  Once one gets it worked out, as Adventuregirl points out, AirAsia is a bargain.  We flew them between Bangkok and Yangon the beginning of the year and it was very satisfactory.

Thanks to everyone for Air Asia comments. Helps allot. Didin't know I could repay luggage. Good tip. Will try and findit on line. Any hote suggeston in Yangon>Thanks,Gemini10
