We will be in Seoul for 13 hours January 1, 2014. I saw an old article about a transit hotel on the message board from 2010 but would like an update. I am not good at waiting and we will have been on a flight from Cambodia waiting for a flight to Honolulu. A tour would be great by laying down will also be important. The prices my tour guide are outrageous...from $400 to $600 per person for that amount of time. I would welcome ideas. Deborah

A bit of googling turned up free tours arranged by the airport for transit passengers.  I can't vouch for them but the price is right.  Why not take a look at http://www.airport.kr/iiacms/pageWork.iia?_scode=C1202020600&fake=129946... or http://www.hanatouritc.com/english/html/02_transit_tours/01_free.html. 

Has anyone reading this taken such a tour?

You might also do some more thorough googling and perhaps come up with other options.

Quite a few years ago we had a long layover in Seoul on our way to Viet Nam and we were given a free city tour, including lunch.  We assumed it had been arranged by our tour company as we had been advised of it ahead of time.  Perhaps the credit belonged instead to the airport  ??  Perhaps the tour company was aware of the availability from the airport and made the arrangements.  The tour was routine but pleasant.  We got to see some of the city and taste some Korean food and we much appreciated it.

I have not taken the tours in question as I have visited Korea on a number of occasions, but I have seen brochures about them at the time of my frequent transits at Incheon Airport. They appear to be comparable to transit tours offered at other major international airports.To supplement transit tours for people who have a lot of time or as alternative activities for people who are not spending the requisite time for transit tours, there are many interesting transit activities available at Incheon Airport, You can create traditional Korean crafts such as painting a fan, decorating a mask, or decorating a mirror for free. There is more than one traditional crafts area so it is possible in theory to go to two and create two different types of handicrafts. (On the occasions I have been there the different booths offered a choice of the same two activities.)On one occasion at a different location in the transit area I could dress up in a traditional Korean wedding dress and have my photo taken.There are also short performances of Korean music at certain times as well as regular parades throughout the airport of people dressed in the traditional clothes of a Korean King and Queen and their court. Additonally there are some museum-type displays.In short, the Incheon Airport is quite friendly for transit passengers.Hope the above info is useful.Cheers,Karyn
