India-Golden Circle short tour & shore ex tours?

We are booked for a cruise around India and to Sri Lanka next year. Our cruise departs Mumbai and stops in Goa, Cochin, and Chennai as well as Colombo and Galle in Sri Lanka. We are considering doing a pre-cruise short Golden Circle tour and are looking for recommendations for a reliable tour company with which to make arrangements. Also if anyone knows of local companies in any of our ports who would be good to contact for shore tours we would appreciate hearing about them. We spend two days in each of the India ports and just one day in each of the Sri Lanka ports. Thanks.

We used Sita Tours for an 8 day tour which was excellent. You start and end in Dehli but they can arrange a flight to your cruise port at the end of the tour.

I've used Swagatam Tours (main office in Delhi, other offices in Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore) for about 6 years for trips to India. They have arranged a variety of trips for me from day trips in Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai, to 2 and 3 week trips in Orissa, Gujerat, Himachel Pradesh, Rishikesh/Haridwar, and a cross-country trip from Kolkata to Mumbai. They are easy to deal with and take credit cards. The Golden Triangle is a must and they could probably arrange a package for you which would include air from the port. I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have.

I second the recommendation of Swagatam. They put together a six-week India program for me and it was excellent. Also, it will make your life easier if you can deal with only one company for all your India plans.

Swagatam also may be able to put you in touch with a Sri Lankan company in which they have confidence.

I've never used Swagatam, so I may have to look into this company. I took a brief look at their website and it looks like they handle just about everything! My best friend is taking her family to India next year, and I've taken on the role of helping her prepare her trip with her airfare, travel insurance, etc. It's good to hear of a tour group that people here use and enjoy.
