No restrictions for Dominican Republic

On April 27, the Dominican Republic announced that it was removing all COVID-19 restrictions for incoming travelers. Now anyone traveling to the Dominican Republic from any country will not need to show vaccination status or any negative COVID tests on arrival, nor will anyone not showing symptoms of COVID-19 be asked to quarantine.

According to a statement from the government, every incoming passenger will have to submit to a temperature check, and a randomly chosen 3%-15% of incoming travelers (as well as anyone with COVID-19 symptoms) will be subject to a “breath test.” (There is no breath test to detect COVID-19 approved in the US.)

At press time, anyone returning to the US from another country had to present a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival. Both PCR (nose swab) and antigen (saliva) tests are available in the Dominican Republic.
