At Bole International Airport (ADD), serving Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, a terminal expansion completed by Ethiopian Airlines (www.ethiopianairlines.com) in September has made Bole the second-largest airport in Africa, after O.R. Tambo International in South Africa.
The expanded terminal, finished during the COVID-19 pandemic, contains features to help protect the health of passengers, with 30 self-check-in kiosks, eight e-gates at Immigration, and social-distancing-spaced seats in the terminal. Those with smartphones can use the Ethiopian Airlines app to book flights, check in, print baggage tags and scan their boarding passes without having to seek out a single employee.
