Floods in Turkey

Flash floods in Turkey’s northern Black Sea region killed at least 27 people in mid-August. The flooding destroyed buildings and bridges, isolating some communities. More than 350 villages lost power.

The flooding occurred while western Turkey was in the midst of a deadly heat wave and an outbreak of wildfires, with nearly 300 separate fires identified.
