Fantasy Travel in Greece

For a trip to Greece that my husband and I took from March 25 to April 16, 2018, we had our arrangements made by a travel agency based in Athens, Fantasy Travel (19 Filellinon St., 105 57 Athens, GREECE; phone +30 210 3310530, www.fantasy.gr), working with Litsa Christou (litsa@fantasy.gr).

Fantasy Travel arranges group travel as well as cruises, but what we wanted was a private trip, including several Greek islands. We were given a very enjoyable, well-planned trip and highly recommend this company.

Previously, we had found that working with a local travel company was the way to go, given the company’s local knowledge and contacts. This proved true with Fantasy Travel as well. In addition, Litsa was a joy to work with — enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very responsive. She always gave us options and good advice.

For 22 nights (three in a 2-star hotel on Naxos, five in a 3-star hotel in Athens, seven in 4-star hotels on Crete and seven in 5-star hotels on Santorini and Rhodes), three interior air tickets each, ferry tickets for a daydrip to Hydra from Athens, two other ferry rides between islands as well as breakfasts and transfers, our cost was €2,780 (near $3,333) per person.

We considered the price very reasonable, given the quality of the arrangements. All of the hotels were comfortable, well located and staffed with friendly, helpful people. Most of our rooms came with amazing views and balconies.

We were a bit too early in the season for any small-group bus tours, so we arranged day tours with private guides in both places through the hotels’ front desk personnel. These day trips were highlights of our trip.

We enjoyed all of the places visited, but our favorites were Naxos, Chania and Rhodes. If you go to Chania on Crete or to Naxos, it’s great to stay on or very near the waterfront, but try to see more of these veryinteresting islands.
