Beware of jet lag

Emily Moore’s report on Switzerland (June ’17, pg. 50) brings back memories of one of our favorite haunts, namely Mürren. At the same time, her detailed account of leaving personal belongings behind in transit and of her husband injuring himself after losing his balance should serve as a wake-up call for travelers taking long flights, especially those with one or more connections.
Jet lag can be disorienting at best and, often, dangerous. Travelers, before continuing extended travel after a long flight, please consider staying at an airport hotel upon arrival. Both the Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and the Radisson Blu Hotel at the Zürich (Kloten) Airport provide excellent overnight accommodations.
I suspect some would balk at paying extra for accommodations. But to endanger one’s health and safety by forging on to small towns with difficult connections is simply false economy.
My wife and I commend the Moores for visiting Mürren. We even sat on the same bench pictured with their letter!
