John’s Yellow Cab in Athens

There were four of us who wanted to take several taxi trips in Athens, Greece, over three days in mid-October 2015 before heading to our ship to embark on a cruise. The taxi service we hired was John’s Yellow Cab (phone +30 694 447 5706, www.athens-taxi.net).
When we arrived at the airport, John Grivogiannis met us with a sign showing our name and we were driven into town, a service for which he charged €45 (near $49). Since the fixed fare for standard taxis from the airport to Athens was €38, we thought this was a fair price.
For a half day of city sightseeing, the two women in our group were charged €150. The driver John assigned to us, Nikolas Vogiatzakis, spoke English, German and French and was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant.
The day we boarded our ship, Nikolas picked us up, took us to a museum we wanted to visit, watched our luggage for an hour and then took us to the ship, all for €60.
John had driven a taxi in New York City for 15 years before returning to his native Greece and setting up his taxi service with English-speaking drivers in Athens. We were delighted with all of the services John provided and with our driver. We considered the prices to be very reasonable and highly recommend John’s Yellow Cab.
