Dubai tram network
In Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the Dubai Tram began running in November 2014. Its 6½-mile route begins at the marina, connecting with the Red Line of the Dubai Metro, and continues for 11 stops along the waterfront. Trains (with up to 405 passengers) run every six minutes from 5:30 a.m. to midnight.
The tram’s initial route is entirely contained in Zone 2 in Dubai’s 5-zone public transit system. Fares for the tram respect the Metro’s fare zones, which vary depending on the number of zones crossed — AED2 (near 55¢) for trips in Zone 2 or, if transferring from the tram to another form of public transit, up to AED6.50 ($1.80) for travel through all five zones.
Reloadable tickets and fare cards will be available at vending machines at all stations.
