SkyTeam Asia pass

This item appears on page 76 of the November 2014 issue.

The “Go Round Asia & Southwest Pacific Pass” gives travelers a flexible way to visit 26 countries. Travelers book a minimum of two and a maximum of 10 stops for travel in economy or business class. Travel must begin and end in the same country (although it can be different cities in that country), and at least one stop must be in Australia, New Zealand or Micronesia. Also, one flight/connection must be on China Airlines, China Eastern or China Southern.

Providing savings on flights operated by member airlines of SkyTeam, the largest airline alliance in the Asia Pacific region, the pass is good for up to a year and can be purchased up to three days in advance of departure. Additional stops can be added for no fee after booking, as long as the mileage band limit and maximum of 10 stops are not exceeded.

Fares are calculated based on the number of miles to be traveled: 13,000 ($2,200 economy, $4,680 business), 17,000 ($2,590 economy, $5,400 business) or 21,000 ($3,120 economy, $6,770 business). Children ages 2-11 get a 25% discount. All itineraries, except one with an originating stop in Tokyo, incur a $260 fuel surcharge.

For info, visit www.skyteam.com/en, click “Round the World Planner,” then “Travel Passes,” then “Go Round Asia and South West Pacific.” Or contact one of the nine member airlines serving that region: Aeroflot, China Airlines, China Eastern, China Southern, Delta Air Lines, Garuda Indonesia, Korean Air, Vietnam Airlines and Xiamen Airlines.
