Kaoham Shuttle in BC
This item appears on page 53 of the November 2014 issue.
Traveling 16 miles between the towns of Lillooet and Seton Portage in British Columbia, the 2-car, 30-passenger Kaoham Shuttle (Site 3, Box 76, Shalalth, B.C., V0N 3C0, Canada; 866/259-8227 or 250/259-8227, http://tsalalhnet/shuttle.html) is said to offer Canada’s “greatest hidden rail journey.”
A round-trip ticket on the shuttle costs CAD10 (near $9), and views include a fast-moving river, dense forest around Seton Lake and, frequently, sightings of deer, bighorn sheep or bears. The shuttle, a partnership between Canadian National Railway and the Seton Lake First Nation Community, runs once a day six days a week. Friday trips must be reserved two days in advance.
