In northeastern Somalia, an estimated 360 people were killed on Nov. 10 as a tropical cyclone made landfall around the state of Puntland. Puntland’s capital, Garowe, and the port area of Bosaso were damaged by flooding. Small villages along the coast near Cape Guardafui were devastated by the high winds and storm surge as were the towns of Beyla and Eyl in Nugal Province.
As the cyclone moved inland, heavy rains and high winds caused flash floods and further damage.
